BOTIL was registered as a Joint Venture Company in India in the late 80s with Baker Hughes formerly Baker International (Baker Oil Tools Division) acquiring 40% equity, the remaining 60% being held by Indian interests. Technology to BOTIL was irreversibly transferred by Baker Hughes (Baker Oil Tools Division) against payment of a pre-agreed sum.
BOTIL commenced manufacture (commercial production) in 1989 and has been manufacturing products, based on the original drawings obtained from Baker Hughes since inception. In 1995 Baker Hughes sold their 40% equity shareholding in BOTIL. Effective that date, BOTIL has no relationship whatsoever with Baker Hughes (Baker Oil Tools Division) and BOTIL continues to manufacture and market the products based on the technology obtained from Baker Hughes updated by its R&D efforts to current industry requirements.
After 1995, BOTIL has widened its scope of design, development and manufacture by adding several additional items of Downhole Completion Equipment to its range and these products have been well accepted by industry as is proved by the exponential increase in sales. The intensity and scope of activities of R&D at BOTIL have been expanding ever since.
BOTIL's product quality was originally governed by the QA guidelines annunciated and adopted by the Baker Oil Tools Plants worldwide. The BOTIL Plant acquired the prestigious API-QI Accreditation from American Petroleum Institute in addition to ISO-9001 Certification, for its Quality Management System. BOTIL also enjoys ISO 14000 & OHSAS 18001 Certifications for its Environment, Health and Safety Management System.
The BOTIL Plant is regularly audited by DNV to ensure compliance of QMS and EHS as per the Standards’ requirements which is ensured by Internal Audit and Surveillance conducted and reported upon by the BOTILQuality Assurance Department.
Besides, through its R&D efforts, BOTIL has obtained certifications from American Petroleum Institute for its products developed as per API-5CT, API-11D1 and API-11V1 Specifications. Regular audits are conducted by API to ensure compliance to its Standards.
Management regularly assesses the adequacy of the programme and ensures corrective action as necessary for effective implementation. Programme Compliance is assured by training, inspection, surveillance and periodic audits of the various elements.
All products manufactured under the BOTIL QA Programme are of the highest quality at the lowest practicable cost supported by required documentation which is verified and on file. BOTIL has traceability programme in-place allowing tracking down the origin of a mal-function, if any, being it due to raw-materials or production/inspection procedures.
BOTIL's competitive thrust has been achieved by stringent adherence to specifications and Quality Assurance Programme, coupled with the systematic upgrading of manufacturing facilities using computer controlled machines. More such machines are currently being added to enhance BOTIL's capacity to meet increased domestic and export demands. |
