The Botil Model
"BE" Hydro-Trip Pressure Sub is installed in the tubing string
below a hydrostatic Packer to provide a method of applying the tubing
pressure required to activate the packer.
To set a hydrostatic packer, a ball is
circulated through the tubing and Packer to seat in the Hydro-Trip
Pressure Sub and sufficient tubing Pressure is applied to activate the
setting mechanism in the packer. After the packer is set a pressure
increase to approximately 2500 psi shears the brass shears screws and
the ball seat moves down until the finger snap back in to a groove in
top sub. The Hydro-Trip sub is then full opening and ball passes on down
the tubing.
